Super Bowl Prediction

I am going to predict that Philadelphia will win this game. They have the best all around team at all positions on the team except tight end and quarterback. Since Patrick Mahomes will not be fully recovered I doubt they will let him move around the pocket that much. Watch Haason Reddick on the Eagles defense and Chris Jones of the Chiefs defense. They may make the key play to win the game just like Aaron Donald did in last year's Super Bowl. It should be a good one!

Super Bowl Results

Super Bowl 57 was quite a treat for entertainment! Jalen Hurts and the Eagles got off to a fast start, even after he got strip-sack for a defensive touchdown. The Eagles still took a 24-14 halftime lead. Patrick Mahomes gets re-injured and stumbles off the field in the 2nd quarter looking like he would be limited in the 2nd half. Then there is the planned halftime show of 29 minutes extending to 49 minutes giving him time to heal more. The Chiefs come out the 3rd quarter running the ball and cashing in a a touchdown cutting the lead to 3 points. The Eagles score again and the Chiefs score again. Then the punt return for a new record taking the ball to the 5 yard line. The Chiefs score and have an 8 point lead. That looked like they had taken control of the game. The Eagles find Devonta Smith all alone in the flat and takes the ball to the 2 yard line. The famed Eagles quarterback sneak works again and they score a touchdown, but need a 2 point conversion. Hurts keeps the ball and gets tackled on the 2 yard line. Only Jalen Hurts could carry the tackler into the end zone to tie the game. Wow! Tie Game! The Chiefs drive the ball down the field with short passes. Then Patrick Mahomes making a gutsy 25 yard run to get the ball to the 15 yard line. Rather than score a touchdown to take a 7 point lead, the Chiefs decided to burn the clock down rather than score and work to get a 1st down. With this decision the Eagles wouldn't get a chance to take the ball down the field and go for a 2 point conversion to win the game. That decision could have back-fired because on 3rd down Patrick Mahomes threw a pass to Devonta Smith that was incomplete. This would leave the Eagles with the ball and 1 minute and 40 seconds left. The referees called a pass interference call on the Eagles at the beginning of Devonta Smith's running his route. You could see some interference, but I hate it when the referee's determine the outcome of the game. I also have been at the wrong end of no calls being called when the refs refused to call obvious roughing penalties by Jack Lambert and the other Steeler linebackers who just plummeted our receivers in Super Bowl 10, which could have made a difference as we were mounting a comeback to win. It didn't happen. The Eagles had 11 seconds to return the ball and 8 seconds to toss a "Hail Mary" pass. Impossible at that distance.

The condition of the field was a disgrace for the NFL. That should never happen at a Super Bowl. Who cares that this was an experimental golf course grass that was slippery when wet. With as much as they charge for the game, this shouldn't be acceptable. I know from personal experience what a soft field can mean for defensive linemen.. It slows down the game for defensive lineman giving the offensive line an advantage. This could have affected the outcome.

My congratulations to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs for their gutsy performance. I also want to commend Jalen Hurts and the Eagles for their effort to fight through this. We lost our 1st Super Bowl to the Baltimore Colts on some questionable referree calls. We also lost on a last 2nd field. You carry that all your life; however we are proud of the effort we put in to physically match the Colts. It was a brutal game with 8 turnovers. In the end, we all count our blessings. I played in 5 Super Bowls winning two and losing the other three by 4 points or less. We fought to the finish. This was a great season with so many great players coming into their own. We can now all look to the Draft to see if we can improve our teams. As of today all of the 32 teams are undefeated for the 2024 season. Hope Springs Eternal! Enjoy the off-season!
